These companies offer their employees challenging work, growth opportunities, generous benefits, and more, making them stand out on the global stage. This survey-driven ranking, produced in partnership with market research firm Statista, provides insight into what makes an employer truly exceptional in today’s fast-changing work environment.
Here’s how we crunch the numbers to determine which companies make the cut.
How We Create the World’s Best Employers List
The World’s Best Employers 2024 ranking is based largely on direct evaluations from employees at the companies being considered. These evaluations were collected through large-scale surveys designed to measure employees’ satisfaction with their workplace. Additionally, we incorporated data from the previous three years, giving more weight to the most recent results to ensure that current employee experiences are front and center in our rankings.
Survey respondents were asked to rate various aspects of their employers, including:
- Work environment: How satisfied they are with the company culture, management, and overall work environment.
- Opportunities for growth: Whether the company provides clear paths for career development and internal mobility.
- Benefits and compensation: How competitive the company’s benefits packages are, including health care, retirement plans, parental leave, and additional perks.
- Diversity and inclusion: Employees' perceptions of their company’s efforts to create a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Work-life balance: Whether the company supports employees’ efforts to balance their personal and professional lives.
The Survey Process
The surveys for this year’s rankings were conducted by Statista, a trusted global market research firm. Surveys were distributed worldwide, allowing employees from diverse industries and regions to participate. The number of companies surveyed in each country was proportional to the population and the number of qualifying employers in that region, ensuring balanced representation.
To ensure accuracy and reliability, we placed greater emphasis on responses from current employees and recent data, though feedback from former employees was also taken into account. This approach ensures a fair, balanced perspective on the companies being evaluated.
Data Analysis and Weighting
Once the survey data was collected, Statista analyzed the responses using a weighted scoring system. More recent data from current employees received the most significant weight, ensuring that companies’ current workplace conditions were prioritized. Additionally, responses related to employee satisfaction with opportunities for growth and work-life balance were given more weight, reflecting the growing importance of these factors in today’s workforce.
Data from previous years were included to identify trends and ensure consistency over time, allowing us to evaluate whether companies were maintaining or improving their standards.
Country Representation
The number of employers recognized in each country varied based on the population and the number of qualifying companies. For countries with larger populations and a higher number of prominent companies, the list includes more honorees to reflect the scope of their industries. Meanwhile, smaller countries with fewer companies still had the opportunity to be represented, ensuring the ranking remained truly global.
